What's Your Favorite Precut?

With such busy schedules these days it can be difficult to keep up with your love of sewing or quilting. That's where I find the joy of using precut pieces. Whether it be fat quarters, charms or strips or even tumblers, etc. it really helps with the cutting phase and most times the fabric coordination too.

So I ask, what is your favorite precut? Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

Just leave a comment & enter to win a free precut package. Winner will be selected and announced on Feb 25, 2012. Be sure to use a valid email account so I can notify you should you win.  Comments will be posted even if you don't see it immediately. Your email account will not be displayed or shared with anyone.

Thanks & happy sewing!

Lately I've been in love with charm packs - they let me get at least a teensy piece of everything in a fabric line. :)

Honestly it depends. If it's a fun collection that I want to play with, but have no big plans I'll grab a charm pack. If I want to make a larger project I'll pick up a jelly roll or layer cake (depending on the size of the print). And there are a couple designers that I collect FQs of because I just love them so much! :D

I am totally a fat quarter freak, but when I can't get the FQ bundle, I usually at least get a jelly roll and charm pack of my favorite fabrics. I've only used layer cakes a few times, but they are great, too. I have a hard time picking just one. I love them allllllll! Great giveaway! Thank you for the chance. :0)

I just started an online class on precuts, and I am currently using charm packs and a jelly roll. I like that the precuts let me skip the cutting stage, since I'm still learning to quilt, but I wish more designers had their patterns available as precuts. It's a limiting selection!

I love layer cakes. My favourite type of quilt is a crazy quilt. ( not embleshed) with two cuts the layer cake can also be turned into 5" charms, and then you have half of what you need for a nine patch.

Believe it or not I have never bought or used a charm pack or jelly roll or any other precut other than fat quarters ( of which I have purchased many hundreds in my life) It's probablly because I'm either cheap or old fashioned (both?) I have seen so many great scrappy quilts though that really could only be done with charm packs, I think I might break down and buy some and become a convert:-)

Charm packs. I love doing small quilts, with less than 3" blocks so the charms are enough fabric.

Hi! Thanks for the great giveaway! I guess it depends. If I find a line I love, love, love, I'll splurge on a fat quarter package. If I think it is really cute, want to make an easy baby or lap quilt, I'll use charm squares. Need, price, want all come into play! Take care, Leslie

Fat quarters....I am a full time RV er and an avid quilter. When we visit different places, quilt stores on the top of the list. You can always find nooks and gannys for a fat quarter or ten!,

I like all the precuts, but have used lots of charms and jelly rolls. I have plans for some of my FQs, and occasionally grab them for a bag or tote. I haven't had any layer cakes yet, but there is a great pattern I want to make with one, if I ever find one I can cut up and use, lol. They are so much fun to just collect and play with!

I like charms - they're readily available and you get a sample of each fabric!

I like the all. I like layer cakes, because you can cut them up to make charms, or use them big. But I love them all!

Hasn't always been, but right now it's fat quarters. So many times I've fallen in love with a fabric, gotten the pre-cut in whatever shape, but then realized after-the-fact that the shape I got wasn't really what I wanted for that particular fabric. Fat quarters still save me a ton of time, but that way I'm not stuck with a million triangles (or whatever!) that I don't want to use!

I'm obsessed with Moda's charm packs!!! The little squares can be sewn together for quick projects but also great for cutting up into smaller pieces to use for scrappy quilts :)

I have just started quilting in the past few months and so my current favorite are the quilt squares. They are simple which is great for now! Some day I will move onto harder things, I hope.
